Is there anything wrong with getting stones on the edge of an engagement ring or wedding band?

Just wondering if there is anything I should consider before seriously considering this type of engagement ring. Would it be uncomfortable or cause any problems in daily wear? Anything else to consider? And, is it okay with the two rings in the set rubbing against each other?

Question: What is the point of diamonds on the "side" if your band is going to sit beside them and cover them up? Maybe I’m misunderstanding the photo, but that’s what I’m seeing. I’d hate to have my sweetheart pay for diamonds no one will see (twice if I understand the shot, once on the e-ring, once on the w-ring).

Are *you* certain you want all the little stones? Dirt will get in there…

The ring is beautiful and it shouldn’t be uncomfortable but go try on one your finger first.

No, there’s nothing wrong with getting one line this. As long as it’s made correctly, it shouldn’t get in the way your of your daily activities (i.e. snag on your clothes).

If you wore them together, you’d probably want to get them soldered together so they don’t rub together. You shouldn’t feel the diamonds, so I don’t think it would affect wearability at all. I personally wouldn’t get this style because if you wear the bands together you hide a third of your diamonds, but that’s my personal opinion. If you really like this style, I don’t know of any problems you’d have.

Channel set like the ring in the picture-no. I have a matching pair of channel set eternity bands that I use as ‘ring guards’ with one of my rings (the 1 ct oval canary, art deco setting) when I switch my rings ( have several, ditto bands too) they are very comfortable.

However, prong set side stones can be uncomfortable…one of my fancy bands (generous hubby) has three rows of prong set round stones..two rows of white sapphires with a row of peridots inbetween) can be uncomfortable to wear even tho the stones are on the front of the band…..the ones on the ends of the rows press against my fingers so I can wear it only for a few hours.

best way to tell is to try on the ring if you can…but channel set? No, you should be okay.

I think it would be no problem. Try on other rings similar to this ring (IN STORES) to get the REAL FEEL FOR THE RING.

no, my e-ring & wedding band are similar. even though i don’t have my wedding band on yet, i tried it on (in the jewelers) to verify it would be comfortable didn’t even notice it. also, my stones are smaller & my wedding band is almost exactly like this: http://www.mobeus.biz/news/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/9-Platinum-and-diamond-wedding-band-curved-to-fit-around-Tiffany-style-engagement-ring.1.jpg
thus the e-ring & band don’t rub against each other.
suppose it depends on the person, band, size of the stones, etc. GL.

oooh I love it and I don’t think you will have any problems… those stones look like they are channel set so they should sit down in the gold and be smooth
